What it is
The Myson 308S048 is a thermocouple supplied complete with nuts. It is a flame-sensing safety device used in Myson Housewarmer back boiler unit gas fires, where it holds the gas valve open only while the pilot flame is proven. If the pilot flame is lost, the thermocouple output collapses and the valve closes, shutting off the gas supply to the burner.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The pilot flame lights but goes out as soon as the control knob is released.
- The appliance repeatedly locks out or shuts down shortly after the burner has been lit.
- The pilot flame is established but the gas valve will not hold in.
- The pilot flame appears weak or unstable at the thermocouple tip.
- The thermocouple lead or tip shows heat damage, corrosion or a loose connection at the valve.
