What it is
The photocell is a flame detection device used on Riello burners, monitoring the presence of a flame during the burner's operating cycle. It is a Riello burner spare supplied for the RLS 300/bp MX and RLS 400/bp MX ranges. The photocell signals the burner control box so that fuel supply is maintained only while a flame is proven.

- Burner locks out shortly after ignition despite a flame being present
- Repeated lockouts on start-up with no fault found elsewhere in the burner
- Flame signal lost intermittently during running, causing the burner to shut down
- Soot, dirt or moisture on the photocell lens affecting flame detection
- Control box reporting a flame failure fault that clears when the burner is reset
