What it is

The Riello 3008932 is an ignition electrode supplied for Riello burner assemblies. It sits at the burner head and carries the high-voltage spark across the gap that lights the fuel and air mixture during start-up. Electrodes are a wear item: heat, soot and repeated sparking gradually erode the tip and degrade the ceramic insulator, so the part is routinely replaced during burner servicing or when ignition faults appear.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Burner reaches the end of the prepurge and then locks out without establishing a flame.
  • Repeated ignition attempts with an audible spark but no light-up at the burner head.
  • Visible erosion, pitting or a rounded tip on the electrode pin.
  • Cracks, crazing or a blackened track on the ceramic insulator, allowing the spark to arc to earth instead of across the gap.
  • Soot or carbon bridging the electrode gap, holding the spark away from the fuel and air mixture.

Before you order

  • Match the number on the burner data plate and on the existing electrode against 3008932 before ordering.
  • This electrode carries the earlier Riello number 3008495, so an older burner may be marked with that reference.
  • Check the electrode gap and the condition of the mounting insulation at the same time, as both affect spark quality.
  • Ignition work on a burner should be carried out by a competent engineer, with the appliance isolated and the manufacturer's settings restored afterwards.
  • This part is fitted to a gas appliance; installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
