What it is
The ignition transformer is a Navien component used on LCB 700 series boilers. It steps up the low voltage supply to produce the high-voltage spark delivered to the ignition electrode, which lights the burner on a demand for heat or hot water. It is listed by the manufacturer under part number 30021149B.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler attempts to fire but there is no spark at the ignition electrode
- Repeated ignition lockouts on a call for heat or hot water
- Weak, intermittent or irregular sparking when the electrode is observed
- Audible buzzing or arcing from the transformer area during the ignition sequence
- Ignition faults that persist after the electrode and ignition leads have been checked
Before you order
- Confirm the boiler model, variant and output match one of the appliances listed above
- Check the serial number against the manufacturer's parts list for your appliance
- Verify the existing transformer is marked with part number 30021149B
- Inspect the ignition electrode and leads for damage before assuming the transformer is at fault
