What it is

The Riello 553SE control box (part number 3001175) is the burner control unit that governs the start-up sequence, flame supervision and lockout on Riello oil burners. It is listed under oil boiler spares within the controls category. The unit manages the pre-purge, ignition, oil valve and flame detection stages of the burner cycle.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Burner runs through pre-purge but fails to fire, then locks out
  • Repeated lockouts that require a manual reset to clear
  • No ignition sequence at all when there is a call for heat
  • Burner starts and then shuts down shortly after, with the lockout lamp lit
  • Erratic or intermittent operation that cannot be traced to fuel supply, nozzle or photocell

Before you order

  • Confirm the burner model and code against the fitment list above
  • Check the existing control box is marked 553SE and matches part number 3001175
  • Inspect the plug and wiring harness for damage before fitting a new control box
  • Isolate the electrical supply to the burner before removing or fitting the control box
