What it is
The Alpha diverter valve assembly is a hydraulic component fitted inside Alpha combination and condensing boilers. It sits in the water circuit and moves to direct flow either to the domestic hot water heat exchanger or around the central heating loop, depending on what the boiler is being asked to do. It is supplied as a complete assembly under part number 3.012752.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Hot water runs cold or only lukewarm while the central heating continues to work normally
- Radiators warm up when only a hot water tap is opened
- Domestic hot water temperature swings between hot and cold during a draw-off
- Boiler locks out or reports a fault while running in hot water mode
- Tap temperature drops noticeably when a second outlet is used
