What it is
The Drayton MA1/679-3 is a 3-port mid-position motorised valve controlled by a room or cylinder thermostat, directing water flow to the heating circuit, the hot water circuit, or both together (mid-position). It has a manual lever for direct control when the motor is not powered.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Valve stuck in one position, so heating or hot water won't run independently
- Motor humming but the valve not moving
- Water leaking from the valve body
- Actuator failing to snap on or off correctly
- No movement from the manual override lever

- Confirm you need a 3-port mid-position valve, not a 2-port zone valve
- Isolate the electrical supply before replacing the actuator
- Drain down the heating system before removing the valve body
- Check your pipework is 22mm compression
