What it is
The Vaillant 253583 is a temperature sensitive element used to monitor stored water temperature on Vaillant gas boilers. It supersedes the earlier code 711413 and is listed by the manufacturer as a storage temperature sensor. The element provides the temperature signal the boiler uses to control the stored water circuit.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Stored water temperature drifts from the set point or fluctuates during use
- The boiler does not respond correctly to a stored water demand
- Hot water temperature is inconsistent between draws
- The sensor head or lead shows corrosion, cracking or scale build-up
- Resistance readings from the element fall outside the expected range for the stored water temperature
Before you order
- Confirm the boiler model and revision (for example VU 152/2-5 R1) against the appliance data badge
- Check the existing sensor part number or the superseded code 711413 before ordering
- Inspect the sensor pocket and wiring connector for damage that may also need attention
- Verify the fault is with the sensor rather than the stored water circuit controls
