What it is
The Main fan outlet seal (part number 238147) is a 60mm diameter sealing component fitted at the fan outlet on compatible gas boilers. It maintains a gas-tight joint at the fan outlet, preventing products of combustion from escaping into the appliance casing. It is used across a number of Main and Potterton appliance families.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Visible cracking, hardening or deformation of the seal
- Soot staining or discolouration around the fan outlet
- Flue gas escape detected at the fan outlet during servicing
- Combustion readings outside acceptable limits
- Seal no longer seating correctly when the fan outlet is refitted
