What it is
The Baxi 232159BAX is a thermocouple for the Baxi Solo 2 RS range of gas boilers. It sits in the pilot flame path and generates a small millivolt signal that holds the gas valve open while the pilot is lit, shutting the gas supply down if the flame is lost. The assembly is supplied as a single unit with a 60 cm capillary lead, ready to fit to the pilot burner and gas valve.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The pilot flame lights but goes out as soon as the gas control knob is released.
- The boiler locks out repeatedly during or shortly after ignition.
- The pilot will not hold at all, or holds only intermittently between cycles.
- The thermocouple tip is visibly burnt, pitted or blackened, or the lead is kinked or damaged.
- The boiler shuts down unexpectedly while running, with the pilot extinguished.
Before you order
- Check the appliance GC number against the list above before ordering; the Solo 2 RS models use different ratings but share this thermocouple.
- Confirm the part number on the existing thermocouple or in the boiler's installation and service documentation.
