What it is
The Baxi 227040 is a fan assembly for Baxi Solo PF series boilers. It draws fresh air into the combustion chamber to support correct gas combustion and then extracts the burnt gases at the end of the combustion cycle. The boiler's safety interlock prevents gas reaching the main burner whenever the fan is not proving correctly, so a failed fan will stop the appliance firing.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler locks out at start-up because the fan is not proving.
- Repeated lockouts or ignition faults after the fan has run.
- Grinding, rumbling or scraping noise from the fan as the bearings wear.
- The fan runs intermittently or fails to spin at all on a call for heat.
