What it is

The electrode packing is a sealing component supplied by Navien for use on the electrode assembly within its NPE-AWE and NPE-SWE series boilers. It seals the point where the electrode passes through the appliance casing or combustion chamber wall, preventing leakage and keeping the electrode seating correct. It is a small service part, typically renewed when the electrode is inspected or replaced.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Water weeping or damp staining around the electrode entry point
  • The packing has hardened, cracked or flattened with age
  • Corrosion or scale build-up on the electrode or its mounting face
