What it is
The Navien 20018353A is a heat exchanger side packing — the sealing component that sits at the heat exchanger side joint on Navien NCB-CE ERP boilers. It forms the seal between the heat exchanger body and the adjoining water-carrying connection, preventing leakage at that joint under normal operating pressure and temperature. It is a service part intended for replacement when the existing packing is disturbed, hardened or weeping.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping or a visible drip at the heat exchanger side joint
- Damp staining, scale or corrosion residue around the heat exchanger connection
- The packing is hardened, flattened or cracked when inspected
- The joint has been disturbed during heat exchanger or hydraulic work and the seal cannot be reused
- Pressure loss on the heating circuit with no other obvious source
Before you order
- Confirm the boiler model and serial number against the fit list above
- Check the part number on the existing packing or in the manufacturer's parts list for your appliance
- Inspect the joint to confirm the fault is the packing rather than a loose connection or damaged mating face
- Have new sealing washers or jointing consumables to hand if the surrounding connections are being opened
