What it is

The Glow-worm 2000801910 is a domestic hot water (DHW) thermistor sensor used in Glow-worm boiler assemblies. It is a temperature-sensing component that sits in the DHW circuit and reports the water temperature back to the boiler's control board. The board uses that signal to regulate hot water delivery and to run its safety checks on the DHW side of the appliance.

Thermistors of this type are solid-state devices with no moving parts, so they tend to fail through drift, open circuit or a broken lead rather than through mechanical wear. When the reading the board receives stops matching the actual water temperature, hot water performance and fault reporting are both affected.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Hot water runs cold or fluctuates between hot and cold with no change at the tap
  • The boiler fails to fire on a hot water demand, or cuts out part-way through draw-off
  • Fault codes or lockouts relating to the DHW sensor appear on the boiler display
  • The stored DHW temperature reading looks implausible against the temperature at the outlet
  • Intermittent hot water faults that clear when the sensor lead or connector is disturbed

Before you order

  • Confirm the part number on the existing sensor matches 2000801910
  • Check the appliance model and GC number against the compatibility data for this part
  • Note the condition of any seal, clip or retaining component on removal so it can be replaced if required
