What it is
The pump block kit is the circulation assembly used on Glow-worm SI, CXI, CI and CI Plus boilers. It houses the pump head and the hydraulic block that moves primary water around the boiler and out to the heating circuit and domestic hot water plate heat exchanger. When the pump block fails, circulation stops and the boiler will usually lock out on overheat or flow-related faults.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler fires but radiators stay cold, or heat only reaches part of the system
- Kettling, banging or grinding noises from the boiler casing during a demand for heat
- Repeated overheat lockouts or flow-related fault codes that clear after the boiler cools
- The pump runs intermittently, stalls, or will not start when the boiler is switched on
- Water weeping from the pump body or the joint between the block and the pump head
