What it is

The Ideal 182443 is a pump head kit for Ideal domestic gas boilers. It forms the motorised section of the boiler's circulating pump, driving water around the primary heating circuit and through the heat exchanger so that heat reaches the radiators and hot water cylinder. The kit is listed under the Ideal Spares range and is the direct replacement for the pump head used across the EVO HE and ICOS SYSTEM HE families.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler fires but the heating circuit stays cold, or radiators heat unevenly despite the pump running.
  • The pump head is noisy in operation, with rumbling, humming or grinding that does not clear after venting.
  • The boiler locks out or reports a circulation or overheat fault shortly after ignition.
  • Water is visible around the pump body or the pump head housing, indicating a failed seal or joint.
  • The pump head runs hot to the touch or fails to start when the boiler calls for heat.

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and GC number against the compatibility list, as the same boiler range can use different pump assemblies.
  • Check the pump head currently fitted against the previous number 170990 and the alternative number 1178243 before ordering.
  • Inspect the pump body, gaskets and seals while the head is removed; a replacement seal or gasket set may be needed to complete the repair.
  • Isolate the electrical supply and drain or isolate the water circuit before removing the pump head.
