What it is
The Ideal 181018 is a diverter valve motor kit built around a Minebea 24V motor. It drives the diverter valve spindle inside the boiler, moving the valve between central heating and domestic hot water positions on demand. The kit is supplied by Ideal for use across the Atlantic Combi, Classic 2 and related appliance families listed in the compatibility table.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Hot water runs but central heating never fires, or the reverse, with the valve stuck in one position.
- The motor head hums or buzzes continuously without the valve spindle turning.
- No hot water at the taps while the boiler still heats the radiators.
- The valve fails to return to its rest position after a hot water draw-off, leaving the boiler cycling.
- Visible scorching, a stiff or seized spindle, or a motor that has stopped responding to the PCB demand.

- Confirm the existing motor is a Minebea 24V unit and that the part number on the old component matches 181018 or 1179989.
