What it is

The Vaillant 180900 is a burner assembly used in a number of Vaillant gas boilers. It carries the gas/air mixture into the combustion chamber, where the flame is established and heat is transferred to the appliance's heat exchanger. It is a serviceable combustion component, so it is replaced when the burner surface or its associated parts degrade.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler fails to establish a stable flame at ignition, or locks out repeatedly
  • Visible sooting, discolouration or heat damage across the burner surface
  • An uneven or partially lit flame pattern across the burner
  • Combustion readings drifting outside the expected range, or a CO alarm indication
  • Noisy, lifting or unstable combustion during operation

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model against the rating plate, as several VU 656 variants use different combustion parts
  • Check the existing burner's part number against 180900 before removal
  • Inspect the burner gasket, seals and fixings, and replace any that are perished or damaged
  • Work on gas-carrying components must be carried out by a competent, registered engineer
