What it is
The Ideal 179599 is an external OT link wiring harness fitted with a purple wire. It forms the electrical connection between the appliance and an external OpenTherm control on compatible Ideal Logic and Vogue models. It is supplied as a single harness assembly.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The purple wire is frayed, cut or has exposed conductors
- Insulation is cracked, brittle or heat-damaged along the harness
- The connector or terminal ends are loose, corroded or failing to latch
- The external control is not communicating with the appliance
- Faults appear when the harness is moved or the connector is disturbed
Before you order
- Confirm your appliance model against the fit list above
- Check the part number on the existing harness where a label is present
- Compare the wire colour and connector arrangement with the part being removed
- Check that the fault lies with the harness rather than the external control or appliance PCB
