What it is
The Ideal 179224 is a complete hydroblock kit for the Ideal Logic System IE boiler range. The hydroblock carries the hydraulic assembly and diverter valve, which directs water between the central heating circuit and the domestic hot water plate heat exchanger. It is a serviceable assembly, so the whole block is replaced rather than individual internal components.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No domestic hot water while the central heating continues to run normally
- Hot water temperature that swings between hot and cold as the diverter fails to hold position
- Radiators warming when only hot water is drawn, or hot water running when only heating is called
- Water weeping or staining around the hydroblock body or its connections
- Diverter-related fault codes or lockout on the boiler display

- Check the existing hydroblock part number on the appliance before ordering, and cross-reference it with 179224 and 1180306

- Work on the hydraulic side of the boiler should be carried out by a competent engineer, with the appliance isolated and drained as required
