What it is

The Ideal 179146 is a primary printed circuit board (PCB) for Ideal appliances. It is the main control board within the unit, carrying out the sequencing and monitoring that supports reliable day-to-day running of the boiler. It is listed under the Ideal Spares brand and is used across the Vogue Gen2 range and a number of other Ideal models.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler locks out or throws a fault code shortly after start-up
  • No ignition sequence, or the appliance fails to fire at all
  • Display or controls dead, blank or unresponsive
  • Intermittent running, unexpected resets, or erratic fan and pump behaviour
  • Repeated lockouts that clear after a power cycle and then return

Before you order

  • Match the GC number on the appliance data badge against the compatibility list; Vogue Gen2 boards are not shared with earlier generations.
  • Check the number printed on the existing board - 1775784 or N8962-3 may be marked instead of 179146.
  • Isolate the appliance from the electrical supply before removing or fitting a PCB, and make sure the replacement is fully seated and clipped before powering up.
  • Where a board has failed, inspect the surrounding wiring, sensors and connectors for damage that may have contributed to the fault.
