What it is
The Vaillant 179030 is a filter that sits in the water pipework of the appliance, positioned where it can catch debris carried through the water supply before that debris reaches the boiler's internal components. It is a Vaillant replacement part for the ecoTEC Plus and ecoTEC Pro families of gas boilers. The water pipework around a boiler splits into the pipework that feeds water into the unit and the pipework that carries water around the heating system; this filter belongs to that water-side arrangement.

- Sediment, scale or metal debris found when the filter is inspected or removed
- Discoloured water or particles appearing at hot water outlets
- Kettling, gurgling or unusual noise from the heat exchanger
