What it is

The Ideal 178937 is a SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) slave wiring harness used on Ideal Commercial appliances. It carries low-voltage control and signal connections between the slave module and the appliance's control circuit, so the two sections communicate correctly during firing, modulation and shutdown. It is a direct replacement loom for the original factory-fitted harness.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The slave module fails to respond, or the appliance will not run through its full sequence
  • Intermittent lockouts or fault codes that clear and return without an obvious mechanical cause
  • Visible damage to the loom: chafed insulation, scorched or brittle cable, exposed conductors
  • Loose, corroded or heat-damaged pins in the plug connectors
  • Continuity faults traced along the harness during electrical testing

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list, as the same harness may not suit every IMAX XEL variant
  • Check the part number 178937 on the existing harness or in the appliance documentation before ordering
  • Isolate the appliance from the electrical supply and follow the manufacturer's wiring diagram when fitting
  • Any work on a gas appliance should be carried out by a competent, registered engineer
