What it is

The Ideal 178150 is a blower assembly used on Ideal Commercial appliances. It is the motorised fan unit that draws air into the combustion chamber and pushes the products of combustion out through the flue, so the burner receives a controlled supply of air and the appliance can prove that air movement is present before it fires.

This is a replacement blower for the Ideal Commercial Imax XEL range, supplied under Ideal part number 178150.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The appliance locks out on a fan or air-proving fault at the start of a demand for heat
  • Grinding, rumbling or whistling noise from the fan housing during or after the purge cycle
  • The fan runs intermittently, slows noticeably, or fails to reach speed
  • Burner fails to ignite because the air pressure switch or proving device does not make
  • Visible damage, contamination or stiffness when the impeller is turned by hand

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list, as the Imax XEL range uses more than one blower variant
  • Compare the part number on the existing blower with 178150 before ordering
  • Check whether the fan mounting gasket or seal is reusable; a replacement seal may be needed to keep the combustion path airtight
