What it is
The Ideal 178076 is a solenoid valve body supplied complete with its actuator, used on Ideal Commercial heat interface units (HIUs). The valve body sits in the water circuit and opens or closes under the control of the actuator, which responds to a demand signal from the HIU control board. Because the body and actuator are matched as one assembly, they are replaced together rather than separately.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No hot water or heating at the HIU outlet even though there is a call for demand
- Actuator silent, buzzing or running hot, with no audible click when demand is applied
- Water weeping or dripping from around the solenoid stem or valve body
- Valve operation intermittent, opening or closing only when the actuator is tapped
- A fault logged at the HIU control pointing to the valve or actuator circuit
