What it is
The Ideal 177555 is an OpenTherm wiring harness supplied as a spare for Ideal Logic Combi appliances. It is the lead that carries the OpenTherm communication signal between the boiler's control PCB and the external OpenTherm room thermostat or control interface. The harness is specific to appliances built from prefix ABK onwards, so the boiler serial prefix must be checked before ordering.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler does not respond to an OpenTherm thermostat, or responds intermittently
- OpenTherm communication or connection fault codes appear on the boiler display
- The appliance runs only on its own internal controls and ignores the external programmer
- Visible damage to the lead: chafed insulation, a cracked plug body or corroded pins
