What it is

The Ideal 177494 is a potentiometer knob from the Ideal spares range. It is the moulded control knob that sits on the potentiometer spindle inside the boiler fascia, giving the user a grip point for adjusting the setting the potentiometer controls. It is used across several Ideal appliance families, including the Classic Combi, Esprit Eco and Exclusive ranges.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The knob turns freely on the spindle without changing the boiler setting
  • The knob is cracked, split or has lost its internal splines
  • The knob has come away from the fascia and will not clip or push back on
  • The setting cannot be adjusted because the knob no longer grips the potentiometer shaft
