What it is
The Ideal flow sensor and turbine kit, part 176473, is a replacement flow switch assembly used across a wide range of Ideal combi and system boilers. It sits in the domestic hot water circuit and signals the appliance when water is drawn, allowing the boiler to fire and modulate for hot water demand. Supplied under the Ideal Spares brand, it is a service item for engineers working on the Atlantic, Classic and related Ideal families.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler does not fire when a hot tap is opened, with no hot water demand signal reaching the control board
- Hot water runs intermittently or cycles between hot and cold during a draw
- The appliance locks out or reports a fault while hot water is being used
- The turbine or paddle sticks, giving erratic or inconsistent flow readings
- Domestic hot water temperature is unstable even though the boiler settings are correct
