What it is
The Ideal 176468 is a plate heat exchanger kit rated at 30kW, supplied by Ideal for use in its domestic and commercial boiler ranges. A plate heat exchanger of this type is the secondary exchanger: the domestic hot water circuit passes across one set of plates while the primary heating water passes across the other, so heat is transferred to the mains water without the two ever mixing. It is a serviceable component and is replaced when the plate stack becomes scaled, blocked or leaks.
