The Ideal 176246 is a thermofuse supplied for Ideal Commercial appliances. A thermofuse is a thermal cut-out device wired into the appliance's safety circuit; it opens permanently when the temperature at its mounting point rises beyond a set limit, cutting the burner or heat source before damage occurs. It is a one-shot safety component, so once it has operated it must be replaced rather than reset.
