What it is
The Ideal 176224 is a heat exchanger assembly kit rated for the 120 output band, supplied by Ideal for its commercial boiler range. The heat exchanger is the component that transfers heat from the combustion gases into the system water, so it sits at the centre of the appliance's heating circuit. This assembly kit is the complete exchanger unit as fitted to the Evomax 120 and Instinct Heat 120 models.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping or staining around the heat exchanger body or its connections
- Repeated overheat lockouts or the appliance cutting out before reaching temperature
- Reduced heating or hot water output with the burner running normally
- Kettling, banging or rumbling noises from the exchanger during firing
- Visible scale, corrosion or distortion on the exchanger surfaces
Before you order
- Match the GC number on the appliance data badge against 41-750-38A before ordering, as the same appliance family uses different exchanger assemblies across output bands.
- Confirm the part number on the existing component or the appliance documentation; 1782308 is also listed against this item.
- Check the condition of the gaskets and seals on the exchanger connections so any that are disturbed during removal can be replaced at the same time.
- This part is fitted to a gas appliance; installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
