What it is

The Ideal 176142 is a complete hydroblock kit supplied for the Logic Code Combi range, covering the diverter valve and hydraulic assembly that sits at the heart of the boiler's water circuit. The diverter valve opens and closes to route heated water either to the central heating radiators or to the domestic hot water taps and showers, giving priority to hot water demand when a tap is opened while the heating is running. Because it is a significant working component, a fault here affects both heating and hot water performance.

This kit is the pre-prefix ABT variant, which identifies the build standard it is intended for.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Hot water runs lukewarm or cold while the heating is calling for heat
  • Radiators warm up when a hot tap is opened, or hot water is lost when heating starts
  • No domestic hot water at all despite the boiler firing
  • Diverter valve sticking, chattering or failing to move between heating and hot water positions
  • Inconsistent switching between central heating and hot water modes

Before you order

  • Check the GC number and serial number on the appliance data badge against the compatibility list to confirm the correct build standard.
  • Confirm the existing part number and any alternative number before ordering, as the pre-prefix ABT variant is specific to certain builds.
  • Inspect the mating faces and seals on removal; a gasket or seal kit may be needed to complete the repair.
  • This part is fitted to a gas appliance; installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
