What it is

The condensate sump is the collection chamber fitted to Ideal Imax Plus 1 and Imax Plus 2 five-module commercial boilers. It gathers the acidic condensate formed during combustion and feeds it away towards the trap and drain run, so the flue gases and the boiler casing stay clear of standing water.

This is an Ideal-manufactured component, listed under part number 176097 and also known by the number 95211562. It is a serviceable item, so it is replaced when the moulding cracks, the seals weep or the sump begins to hold water instead of draining it.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Condensate pooling around the base of the boiler or inside the casing
  • Water tracking from the sump area onto the floor beneath the appliance
  • Visible cracks, splits or distortion in the sump moulding
  • A sump that holds water rather than draining away freely
  • Staining, scale or corrosion around the sump joints and connections

Before you order

  • Confirm your appliance is an Imax Plus 1 or Imax Plus 2 five-module unit before ordering
  • Check the part number on the existing sump against 176097 and 95211562
  • Inspect the sump seals and gaskets while the boiler is open and replace them if they are perished
  • Isolate the appliance and allow it to cool before removing the sump
