What it is
The Ideal 175590 is a hall-effect flow sensor that clips onto the manifold/flow-turbine cartridge inside the boiler. It detects water movement when a hot tap is opened and signals the demand to the boiler's control board so it fires to heat the water.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No hot water at the taps even though the central heating works normally
- Hot water response is delayed after opening a tap
- Hot water cuts in and out intermittently
- Boiler doesn't seem to recognise that a tap has been opened
Before you order
- If hot water is unreliable, also check the flow turbine cartridge this sensor clips onto — a worn turbine can cause the same symptoms
- Confirm your exact boiler model and serial before ordering, as the sensor is shared across a wide range
- Fitting is a job for a Gas Safe registered engineer with power isolated
