What it is

The Ideal 175434 DHW pack is a service assembly of isolation valves used on the domestic hot water side of Ideal's Isar, Evo HE and Esprit 2 boiler ranges. The valves let an engineer shut off the DHW circuit locally so the appliance can be drained, serviced or have components replaced without isolating the whole property. It is supplied by Ideal as a spare for the models listed below.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Water weeping from the valve body, spindle or compression nut when the DHW circuit is under pressure.
  • The valve handle turns but does not shut the flow off, so the DHW side cannot be isolated for servicing.
  • A stiff, seized or snapped handle, often caused by scale or long periods without operation.
  • Damp staining or corrosion around the valve on the pipework or casing interior.
  • Repeated draining down because the isolation point will not hold.

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and GC number against the compatibility list, as the same part number covers several Ideal ranges.
  • Check the existing valve on the appliance and compare it with the alternative number 1780901 where the original marking is unclear.
  • Inspect the sealing washers and olives on the pipework and replace them if they are compressed or perished, as they are not part of the valve assembly itself.
  • Work on the boiler casing and water-carrying components should be carried out by a competent engineer.
