What it is
The Ideal 175423 is a boiler wiring harness — a pre-formed loom of cables and moulded connectors that carries power and control signals between the appliance's main PCB and its components, including the fan, gas valve, pump and sensors. It is produced by Ideal for the Esprit 2 and Evo HE families. Because the loom is supplied as a complete assembly, a damaged or corroded harness can be swapped out at the connector points rather than rewiring the boiler by hand.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler fails to fire or locks out intermittently with no clear fault at any single component
- Fault codes appear and clear again, or change when the loom is disturbed
- Insulation is chafed, brittle or hardened by heat, particularly near the heat exchanger or fan
- Connector pins are loose, corroded, discoloured or show signs of arcing
- Components such as the fan or pump run erratically or cut in and out
