What it is
The Ideal 175417 is a 24kW plate heat exchanger kit for domestic hot water. It is the secondary heat exchanger in a combi boiler, made up of closely packed metal plates that transfer heat from the primary heating circuit into the water going to your taps and shower without the two mixing.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Hot water runs lukewarm or cold intermittently while heating still works
- Reduced hot water flow or pressure at the taps
- Kettling or banging noises when the hot tap is run
- Hot water temperature fluctuates or surges
- Visible leaking or limescale build-up around the heat exchanger
Before you order
- Confirm your boiler needs the 24kW exchanger, not the 30kW version (175418)
- Fit the new O-rings supplied rather than reusing the old ones
