What it is
The Ideal 174813 is a diverter valve head manufactured for Ideal domestic heating appliances. It forms the operating head of the diverter valve, the component that routes water through the primary and secondary circuits so the appliance can switch between central heating and hot water production. The head drives the internal mechanism that opens and closes the flow paths inside the valve body.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The appliance runs in heating mode but produces no hot water, or the reverse.
- Radiators heat up when only hot water is called for, indicating the valve is stuck in one position.
- The actuator motor runs continuously, buzzes, or hunts without moving the valve.
- No change in flow direction when the appliance switches between heating and hot water.
- Water weeping from around the head or the valve spindle.
