Ideal Body Insulation 6 Section 174697

The Ideal 174697 is a body insulation section set for the heat exchanger body of Ideal Commercial boilers. It is supplied in a six-section format, matching the original insulation fitted around the body during manufacture. Its role is to hold heat inside the heat exchanger body rather than letting it escape into the appliance casing, which helps the boiler run at its designed efficiency and keeps external panel temperatures within normal limits.

Insulation of this type degrades over years of heat cycling. Once sections crack, crumble or fall away, the body loses part of its thermal barrier and the appliance can run hotter on the outside than it should.

• Insulation sections crumbling, flaking or breaking away from the heat exchanger body
• Visible gaps where sections have dropped out, leaving the body exposed
• Outer casing or panels running noticeably hotter than usual during operation
• Damp patches or staining on the insulation where moisture has been trapped against the body
• Insulation that has hardened, cracked or lost its shape after long service

• Confirm the boiler model and serial number against the compatibility list before ordering
• Check the number marked on the existing insulation against 174697, 1779248 or 200005492
• Note that this item covers six sections, so confirm how many sections the body requires
• Inspect the surrounding seals and fixings while the casing is off, and replace anything that has perished
