What it is
The Ideal gauge pack is a replacement pressure gauge assembly supplied with a 22mm valve. It is manufactured by Ideal for its domestic boiler range and fits models across the Esprit 2 and Evo HE families. The gauge provides a visual measurement of the pressure built up within the central heating system, so a fall in pressure — often the first indication of a leak somewhere on the heating circuit — can be identified at the boiler.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The gauge needle sits at zero or fails to move when the system is pressurised.
- The needle sticks, jumps or gives an inconsistent reading across the dial.
- The system loses pressure repeatedly and needs frequent topping up.
- The gauge face is fogged, cracked or the dial markings are no longer legible.
- There is visible weeping or a drip at the gauge or its valve connection.
Before you order
- Check the GC number and appliance serial plate against the compatibility list to confirm the correct gauge pack for the boiler.
- Confirm whether the appliance is currently fitted with 174559 or the earlier number 171849.
- The pack is supplied with a 22mm valve, so check the existing valve connection before starting work.
- Inspect the sealing washers and connections on removal and replace any that are perished.
