What it is
The air inlet damper is the component that regulates the volume of combustion air drawn into the appliance, sitting in the air intake path ahead of the burner. This one is supplied by Ideal for the Imax Xtra range of commercial appliances. It controls how much air reaches the combustion chamber so the gas and air mix stays within the settings the appliance was commissioned to.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The damper blade no longer moves freely, sticking or seizing at part travel
- Rattling or vibration from the air intake area while the appliance is running
- Combustion readings that drift and cannot be brought back to the commissioned figures
- Visible distortion, corrosion or impact damage to the damper blade or its mounting
- The appliance repeatedly locking out during start-up or shortly after ignition
