What it is

The Ideal 174436 is a flow manifold for Ideal Commercial Imax Xtra boilers. It sits in the appliance's hydraulic circuit, distributing water flow through the heat exchanger and the connected pipework so that each circuit receives an even supply. The manifold is a serviceable component and is replaced as a complete assembly when the internal passages become restricted or the body and joints start to leak.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Reduced or uneven flow through the boiler, with the appliance cycling or locking out on a flow or overheat fault.
  • Kettling, knocking or rushing noises from the heat exchanger as the manifold passages become restricted.
  • Weeping or visible water at the manifold body, joints or connection points.
  • Scale, sludge or debris build-up inside the manifold, narrowing the bore and reducing throughput.
  • Uneven heating between the zones or circuits fed from the manifold.

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list, as the Imax Xtra range uses more than one manifold variant.
  • Check the number stamped on the existing component or listed in the appliance documentation; 174436 is also listed under 1780656.
  • Inspect the manifold connections and order replacement gaskets or seals if the existing ones are compressed, hardened or damaged.
  • Isolate and drain the appliance before removing the manifold, and have the work carried out by a competent engineer.
