What it is
The Ideal 174386 is a control module — the printed circuit board that governs the operating sequence of Ideal Commercial Imax Xtra appliances. It processes inputs from the temperature sensors and safety devices, then drives the fan, gas valve and pump outputs to run ignition, modulation and shutdown in the correct order. It is supplied as a direct replacement board for the Imax Xtra range.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The appliance fails to fire, or locks out repeatedly with no obvious ignition or gas supply fault.
- Burner behaviour becomes erratic, or the fan and pump outputs stop responding to demand.
- The display or status indicators are blank, dead, or hold a persistent fault code that will not clear.
- The board shows heat damage, discoloured tracks, burnt components or swollen capacitors.
- Faults appear intermittently and change when the board or its plugs are disturbed.
