What it is

The Ideal fan assembly 174375 is the combustion air fan used on Ideal Commercial Imax Xtra boilers. It draws fresh air into the combustion chamber so the gas burner receives the correct air supply for clean, complete combustion, then pushes the burnt gases out through the flue at the end of the cycle. The boiler's safety interlock prevents gas reaching the main burner unless the fan is proving correctly, so a failed fan stops the appliance from firing.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler locks out on ignition or fails to fire at all, with the fan proving sequence not completing.
  • The fan runs noisily, with rumbling, scraping or whining from worn bearings or a damaged impellor.
  • Intermittent lockouts that clear on reset and return shortly afterwards.
  • Overheat or flue-related faults appearing because combustion air is restricted or flue gases are not cleared.
  • Visible damage, stiffness or contamination around the fan housing or impellor on inspection.

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list, as Imax Xtra variants use different assemblies.
  • Check the number on the existing fan, as 1781038 may be quoted on some units or paperwork.
  • Inspect the fan mounting gasket or seal and replace it if it is compressed, torn or perished before refitting.
