What it is
The Ideal 174306 is a gas valve kit for the Ideal Icos range of domestic gas boilers. The gas valve is the gas distribution device on the appliance: when the burner needs more gas, the printed circuit board sends a signal to the valve, which opens and releases gas through to the burner or the pilot assembly. This kit is listed by Ideal under the Ideal Domestic Boiler Spares brand.

- The boiler fails to ignite even though the PCB is calling for heat
- No gas reaches the burner or pilot assembly when the valve is energised
- Repeated lockouts or flame failure faults on start-up
- Intermittent ignition, with the burner lighting on some attempts and not others
