What it is

The Ideal Kit - Harness Wiring Isar is a replacement wiring harness for Ideal gas boilers. It carries the low-voltage control and sensing connections between the boiler's electrical components, so the control board, fan, sensors and safety devices can communicate and the appliance can run through its sequence correctly. The harness is supplied under Ideal part number 174278 and is listed against the Esprit 2 and Evo HE ranges.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler locks out or fails to complete its ignition sequence with no obvious mechanical cause.
  • Intermittent faults that appear and clear, often worse when the appliance is warm or when the case is disturbed.
  • Error codes relating to fan, sensor or control communication that return after resetting.
  • Visible damage to the loom: chafed or heat-hardened insulation, exposed conductors, or a burnt smell around the connector plugs.
  • Loose, corroded or partially seated plugs at the board or component ends of the harness.

Before you order

  • Confirm the model and GC number against the compatibility list, as the same appliance name can be built in several variants.
  • Check the existing harness against part number 174278 and the alternative number 1179942 before ordering.
  • Inspect the connector plugs and any seals or grommets disturbed during removal, and replace them if they are perished.
