What it is
The Ideal 174153 Turret Seals Kit is a set of replacement seals for the turret assembly on Ideal Classic HE boilers. The turret sits at the top of the heat exchanger where the flue and water connections meet, and the seals within it prevent water and flue products escaping at those joints. Over time the seals harden, flatten or split, so the kit is fitted as part of a repair or service where the turret has been disturbed or is weeping.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping or dripping from around the turret or heat exchanger connections
- Staining, scale trails or corrosion marks below the turret area
- Seals that have hardened, flattened or cracked when the joint is opened
- A joint that will not seal again after the turret has been removed and refitted
- Gradual loss of system pressure with no other obvious source of leakage
