What it is
The Ideal 174094 is a piezo spark generator assembly used on Mexico HE series appliances. It produces the high-voltage spark that lights the burner when the boiler receives a call for heat, so the gas is ignited at the right moment in the start-up sequence. The assembly is listed by Ideal under the Ignitors & Spark Generators spare part category and is also referenced by the alternative number 1179822.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No spark at the burner electrode when the boiler is called to fire
- Boiler fails to light and goes to lockout on start-up
- Ignition clicking is absent, weak or irregular
- Appliance lights intermittently, then drops out during the ignition sequence
- Spark tracking or arcing visible around the generator body or lead
Before you order
- Confirm the GC number on the appliance data badge against the compatibility list, as Mexico HE15, HE18 and HE24 variants use different GC references
- Check the existing generator and lead routing before ordering, so the replacement matches the fitted assembly
- Note the alternative number 1179822 when cross-referencing against older documentation or stock records
