What it is
The Ideal Fan Assembly Classic (part number 174068) is the combustion fan fitted to Ideal Classic HE and Optia HE condensing boilers. It draws fresh air into the combustion chamber so the gas can be burnt correctly, then clears the burnt gases from the appliance once combustion is complete. It is supplied as a complete fan assembly including the impeller.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler locks out or fails to ignite, often with a fan or air pressure fault code on the display
- Whining, grinding, rumbling or scraping noise from the fan area during start-up or running
- The fan does not spin at start-up, or spins intermittently and then stops
- Combustion readings drift out of tolerance or the flue gas analysis becomes erratic
- Soot, debris or visible mechanical damage on the impeller or fan housing
