What it is

The Ideal Istor programmer kit, part 173973, is the clock and timer assembly that controls when the central heating and hot water are fired. Supplied in grey, it allows heating and hot water periods to be set so the boiler runs when comfort is needed rather than continuously. It sits within the Ideal Istor appliance family and is listed under clocks and timers.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Heating or hot water fails to switch on or off at the programmed times
  • The display is blank, dim or unreadable
  • Buttons do not respond when settings are changed
  • The clock loses time, resets, or drifts from the correct time
  • The boiler stays cold through a scheduled on period, or runs outside the set programme

Before you order

  • Check the appliance model and GC number against the compatibility list above before ordering
  • Confirm the existing programmer's part number matches 173973, or that the alternative numbers 1179735 or N2885 appear on the old unit
  • This item is not classified as a gas part
